A challenging day to say the least. Betsy and I were a little but put off at one point by the fact that Jesper planned some modest rock climbing in order to get over the “bad step”. The Walkhighlands description talked about an “easy exposed scramble” on the South Side, but when we were there, we realised that Jesper’s route choice was much more attractive with the security of being roped up. Initial looks at the scramble did not inspire confidence.
The cloud rose, and there were some great views in all directions from the summit including a look at the route we took to ascend Bruach na Frithe in on our 2013 trip to Skye. It was interesting to see what had been underneath the snow covering that we had gingerly ascended and descended on that occasion.
It took hours to get along the summit ridge because of the roping up and climbing. It was very cold; we were absolutely freezing and shivering, but with Jesper’s help we were successful and it was a day to remember. We just managed to get a takeout Indian dinner in Kyleakin at 10:30 pm on the way home.
