Our last notable hike and another bit of unfinished business. We failed to climb this in 2017 when we were turned by back bad visibility, difficulty in route finding, unstable snow and various other things. This time the weather was cloudy and chilly, but by Skye standards this is an easy Munro so we went ahead. It’s also quite short, but as usual a modest 5-mile walk in the Cuillin Hills turned in to a long day. Route finding is the biggest hurdle on this hike.
We saw a few other people on the hill, but only one party in addition to ours seemed to have solved the problem of how to get up out of the corrie and past the forbidding slabs above. This was a couple of guys, one of whom was cleaning up his final Munros. After this one he only had 4 left – most of them in the far North.
Unfortunately the summit was shrouded in cloud when we arrived so we were not able to see the famed views of the other Black Cuillins, but things cleared on the descent and we saw some great scenery.
